JAILED: Man Bags 4 Years For Poisoning Friend
A
28-year-old man, Stephen Koreyo, has been sentenced to four years imprisonment
by a Minna Chief Magistrate Court for poisoning his friend.
Koreyo,
who was yesterday arraigned by the men of the state SCID, was said to have on
September 5, 2014, deceived one Adamu Mohammed, a resident of Gurara area of
Minna metropolis, that he would hire his Mazda vehicle, with registration
number WSH 247AA, to Keffi in Nasarawa State for a business trip.
The
convict, who is a native of Karuka in Koko LGA of Nasarawa State on arrival in
Keffi, booked a hotel room where he and his friend, Adamu, lodged.
However,
in the process, he drugged Adamu, stole his car and drove it to Jos, Plateau
State, where he was arrested while trying to sell the vehicle.
He
was standing trial on a two-count charge bothering on causing hurt by means of
poisoning with intention to commit an offence and theft, which contravened
section 249 and 287 of the Penal Code Law.
When
the charges were read to him by the Presiding Chief Magistrate, Alhaji Hameed
Bima, he pleaded guilty to the charges and begged for the court’s leniency.
The
presiding Chief Magistrate, Hameed Bima, sentenced him to four years
imprisonment without an option of fine and N15,000 fine on the second count
charge or 12 months imprisonment.
The
sentences are to run concurrently, he ruled.
