my journey to marriage

My journey to marriage

Was sure it wasn’t black or white
Not dark, no light
All I could sense was the excruciating sound
Sound from within placed me lost but found

Had boarded a vehicle on transit
Going to see my beloved at Anambra, a warm visit
The bus, at Benin, there was a somersault
The height of turns seems a pole vault

For many hours I was in mirage
Stars counting, mind centered on my marriage
Do I survive this accident? Blood of Jesus I could say
Is there no help coming this way?

Yes, now I could hear voices
In high tones, like a musical rhythmic noises
Ewooo!!! “See blood”
Then I realized my cold body fluid

Someone, a female precisely pointed, that guy is alive
I was happy the rescue approached me in five
I waited, Ew!!! alive was the guy next me
Am I alive I shouted, I could hear only me

Am I dead? The voice sounded familiar
God forgive my sins, have been a liar
I tried to be repentant
The smell of death is sure reluctant

Now, I could feel me raised above alone
Sirens of ambulance. I was settled in one
My mind pumping, hope am not headed to the mortuary?
Is this becoming my obituary?

Someone please tell someone am here
Anyone could speak to anyone there
Everyone should tell everyone am there
Has anyone told everyone that someone is here?

Please God give me a last chance
I will never dance with dance
I will preach your word far and wide
Always serve you in hay and tide

Then I felt a tap
“broooda come chop akara and pap”
“Your food don dey cold since morning wey you dey sleep.”

Then i realized it was the bride price
so high and kept me thinking.
and am still thinking.
