ENUGU-Tragedy
struck at Ugwuoba in Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State at the
weekend when an Indian hemp smoker axed his father to death for advising him to
desist from taking hard drugs.
The deceased, Mr.
Christopher Onu was attacked by his son, Ikenna Onu at his home in Aguabosi
village in Ugwuoba community in a gruesome manner throwing the entire village
into morning.
According to the
State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, the deceased who was
a farmer, had shortly after returning from farm on July 4, 2014 called his son,
Ikenna, to his room where he advised him to desist from smoking weeds believed
to be indian hemp in order to avoid ruining his life.
Angered by his
father’s wise counsel, Ikenna who was suspected to be under the influence of
the hard drug, allegedly picked up an axe and cut his father’s head open.
The old man was
said to have slumped immediately and bled to death.
The police
spokesman said that the suspect was arrested and now being detained at the
Criminal Investigations Department of the State Police Command in Enugu.
He said that
investigations had commenced into the gruesome murder of the farmer whose
corpse had been deposited at General Hospital mortuary Oji River for autopsy.
