IKORODU – A man, who allegedly poured hot groundnut oil on his business
partner, on Wednesday appeared before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court
in Lagos on a charge of assault.

The police charged Favour Edem, 21, with assaulting Mr Kingsley Brown, with
whom he was frying a snack – puff-puff  – for sale.
The Prosecutor, Cpl. Mary Ajiteru, told the court that Edem, who resides at
Adenuwa St., Owode Elede on Ikorodu Road, Lagos, committed the offence on
Jan. 25 at Owode Elede.
Ajiteru said that the accused poured the hot oil on Brown during an
argument.
She said that the offence contravened Section 243 of the Criminal Law of
Lagos State, 2011.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Magistrate, Mr W.B. Balogun, granted him bail in the sum of N200, 000
with two sureties each in like sum.
Balogun ordered that one of the sureties must be a community leader in the
magisterial district.
He adjourned the case till March 19 for mention. (NAN)
